Easter 2009

We had a nice Easter weekend.  Ryan had to work most of the time.  Poor thing.  He's on a really rough month in the ICU.  We all can't wait until he's finished.  It'll be amazing for us when Ryan works "real" hours and is home EVERY weekend! 

 

Friday, we dyed eggs.  This was an experience!  Brody thought the dye tablets were candy, and I do agree they looked a lot like Sweet Tarts.  He ate the blue tablet before I could stop him. Let's just say his mouth was VERY BLUE!  The tablets were non-toxic, so I wasn't worried about that.  It's so funny what kids do!  We went to an Easter Egg Hunt at my parent's church Saturday.  Brody enjoyed making a craft and decorating cookies before the big hunt.  He enjoyed himself.

Sunday, the Easter Bunny left Brody a basket at home, and then we ventured over to Grandma and Pappy's house where the Easter Bunny had hidden eggs outside for him!  He loved finding the eggs, even in the cold weather!  We watched The Masters on TV while Brody took a much needed nap.  I was pulling for Tiger Woods or Kenny Perry, but neither won.  It was a nice day. It's Coming Along!

Our new house is really starting to come along!  The framing is now finished.  They will be doing the brick/siding/roofing next.  Once the outside is finished, the inside can begin!  We go visit the house at least once or twice a week.  We've found several things to be corrected, so it's good we are keeping our eyes on it!  Brody loves to go there.  He runs upstairs to his new room right away.  I am so excited about our house.  We will have lots more room for our growing family!  We also got Brody registered for preschool last week!  I really love the school.  It's at a church off of Winchester Road, only about a 15 minute drive for us from our new house.  So it's much better than driving into Lexington.

Our house inspection went really well.  One minor issue, replacing downspouts on one gutter. No big deal!  The last hurdle is the appraisal, which we're not worried about at all.  So, seems that we will be out of this house by May 8!  

The baby is doing well, growing a lot lately.  I can really feel her kicking a lot now.  I'm getting bigger and bigger by the day!  I'll be ready for July to come sooner than later.   Happy Spring!! 

UK Welcomes Coach Calipari!

Ryan and I have been glued to the internet/TV/radio for the past 4-5 days anticipating the news of our new basketball coach.  Is it Donovan?  Is it Travis Ford?  Calipari???

Yesterday, we finally found out our new guy is Coach Cal.  It's especially neat that he's now our coach because he is from Pittsburgh!  Moon Run to be exact, my parents' hometown!  I love Pittsburgh, and I'm sure he's a Steeler fan too!  

I'm really looking forward to UK Basketball getting back on track as one of the winningest teams, always a threat every March.  It's been a long time.  I have been a Wildcats fan since I was in middle school, and especially as a student.  It was so awesome to always have really good seats for all home games.  C-A-T-S Cats, Cats Cats!!!!

Whoa!

So, we put our house for sale on Wednesday night, had the official sign out front and everything.  It did not hit the MLS listings until Thursday at around 4pm.  At 7pm, I got a call from a realtor wanting to show it to a perspective buyer.  I was shocked, wasn't ready for that! We hadn't even loaded our pictures to the website.  So, Ryan and I quickly gathered the cats, cleaned up what we needed to, and got out of the house.  We were back home by 8:55pm.

Friday morning, Brody and I were shopping at Meijer and I got a call on my cellphone from our realtor.  We had an offer!  It was for about $5K less than what we asked, so we countered with our original price.  The buyer wanted in April 20!  This was all happening way too quickly for me.  I was just getting used to having a for sale sign out front.  I thought the process would take a few months, with the slow economy we're in.  So, we went home, ate lunch, Brody took a nap. We got a call at about 4pm, and the lady agreed to our price, just added the refrigerator.  Done! Sold!  Of course, this is pending the house inspection and appraisal.  So, the deal is not set in stone until we close, which we were able to push back to May 8.  Ryan is on the MICU in April, so moving that month would be almost impossible.  

Ryan and I were joking that we really know how to sell a house.  This is how you do it!  Haha.  Just pure luck, I think.  Crazy!  So, in May, we will be moving the rest of our things to our storage building, and shacking up with my parents until our new house is complete by August 1st.  My parents are very generous for letting us stay.  Brody will LOVE all the extra attention 24/7!  Hopefully we don't get on each other's nerves too badly!

It's Official!

It's official!  Our house is now for sale!!

Disney on Ice!

Last night, the West Family went to see Disney on Ice!  It was so much fun.  You should have seen Brody's face when he saw photo booths of Buzz and Woody.  He climbed right over the partition and went over to the statues, interrupting someone else's photo session!  His face was priceless!  

He really loved the show.  His favorites were Nemo, Toy Story, Pinocchio and of course all of the Mickey Mouse characters.  He was a really good boy, for about an hour and a half.  After intermission, the music and characters weren't familiar to him, so he was a little restless. Thank goodness for cotton candy!  

We all had a great night out.  I can't wait to take Brody to Disney World.  We will all go as a family, with my sister and her family and my parents, probably when the boys are at least 5.  It is such a magical place.  He will LOVE it!  Here are some pictures of our night.

Update

We have stayed busy lately, with lots of things going on at once.  We were so shocked and saddened to hear that my Grandma passed away on Friday, February 27.  She was 86 years old. She was a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was a fiesty lady right up to her very last days.  We will miss her dearly.  We love you Emmie!

Ryan stayed home with Brody for a couple of days while I made the road trip up to Pittsburgh for Grandma's funeral.  They did very well at home.  Brody was so excited to see me when I got home.  He's not one for grand gestures, but this time, he ran up to me and hugged and kissed me.  It was very nice.  Since then, Brody has been VERY clingy and very reluctant to leave Mommy and Daddy.  I'm hoping this is just a phase and it will end soon.  Today, I had to drag him into school, as he was kicking and screaming, protesting being at school.  He quickly got over it, but gosh....he's heavy, and it's hard for me to lift him much these days!

Our new house is underway!  Our builder says it should be completely framed and under a roof by the end of March.  Yea!  We are going to be putting our current house for sale probably next week.  We've started packing boxes and de-cluttering the house.  Our storage building is slowly filling up.  

The weather has been wonderful the past week.  Highs in the 70's!  We have spent lots of time outside at the parks, taking walks, and just enjoying the outdoors.  Brody loves being outside.  I have a feeling we will be living outside this summer.
